The Sailboat

The empty space an ocean's breath

Has took my breath away

Flowing on the pulsing tides

Beneath, the secrets lay

I catch the wind, I hold it tight

This whispered serenade

Do I let it go the way of mist

To a future yet unmade

My canvas stretched to sun and storm

The mercy of the seas

The lightning drop out of the blue

Turns chase to purge the breeze

Of hope and love and all joy brings

A fleeting pictured dream

The clear blue skies, the water's shine

Can stillness split the seam

I sail beyond the chaos rain

Searching for my guide

For next must come the warming ray

Unless the heavens lied

Above beyond my sails pull on

Reaching there at last

A single star just out of reach

Past the fingers of my mast
